  • You can only travel on a ticket issued in your name. 
  • You cannot change your name and surname (except for the reasons mentioned above) but you can modify your booking if the fare conditions permit.
  • The Turkish Airlines name change/correction policy applies to all fare types, regardless of service class. 

How to Change Name on a Turkish Airlines Ticket?

How to change names on a Turkish Airlines ticket will depend on what type of ticket you’re changing—a cash ticket or an award ticket. 

To make name changes or corrections to a cash ticket, you will need to:

Turkish Airlines Name Change After Marriage

Yes, you can. The Turkish Airlines name change policy permits name changes after marriage, divorce, adoption, etc., subject to the following conditions:

  • You must present a valid legal copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree, etc.
  • You must be ready to cancel and rebook your ticket under your correct legal name (if required) by paying the applicable cancellation fee plus the fare difference (between the old and the new fare) plus the applicable service/admin charges if any.

Turkish Airlines does not specify a name change fee for the legal name changes mentioned above but clearly states that name changes are not permitted. This leaves you with the following options:

  • Option 1: Ask Turkish Airlines if you’ll be allowed to travel with supporting legal documentation proving that you’re the same person to whom the ticket was issued. If Turkish Airlines agrees—such as by adding an appropriate remark on the same ticket—you may be allowed to travel on the same ticket.
  • Option 2: Cancel and rebook your ticket with the correct legal name (either because Turkish Airlines doesn’t agree to Option 1 or the security protocols of the departing country do not permit this, or both. In such a scenario, you will have to pay a cancellation fee + the fare difference + service/admin charges depending on how you rebook.

Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles Name Change

Miles&Smiles members are allowed to make a name change by updating their profile ID online through a feedback form or a sales office, ticket-issuing travel agency, this website, or the airline’s airport desk (if there’s sufficient time). 

When updating the profile ID, you must attach proper legal documentation (marriage certificate, divorce decree, court order, etc.) as proof of name change.

Turkish Airlines Name Change Fee

Turkish Airlines does not have a specific name change fee. However, if you’re making a name change or correction, you will either not be charged any fee (save for admin/ticketing service charges, if any) or you’ll have to pay the cancellation charges as well as the difference in fares between the old and the new ticket at current prices and the applicable admin/ticketing service charges.
